Questions

Can I learn a language by watching live TV?

Live TV is a good source of listening practice: news anchors speak clearly at natural speed, and the same stories repeat through the day, so you hear the same words several times. It works best alongside a course or a teacher, not instead of one.

Which channels are best for beginners?

Start with news channels. Anchors use standard pronunciation, and on-screen headlines help you follow along. Talk shows and live events are faster and harder.

Are these channels free to watch abroad?

Yes. They are the broadcasters' own free YouTube live streams, and every channel on this page had no country restrictions in our latest check (251 channels across 12 languages play worldwide). No account is needed.

Can teachers use these in class?

Yes. Each channel opens from its page or from the 3D globe, so you can show a class what is on TV in another country right now. The streams come from YouTube, so YouTube's terms apply.

How are the channels chosen?

For each language we show up to 4 channels that play worldwide, news channels first, then by how many people are watching. The list updates automatically and is not an endorsement.
