GlobeNow.tv for ChatGPT and AI agents

A free, read-only API that answers three questions: which free live TV channels match, which live webcams are on now, and where a city's latest news videos are. It powers the GlobeNow Live Finder GPT, and any agent can use it with the OpenAPI spec below. No key needed.

I'm the developer of GlobeNow.tv. The API returns only public information already shown on GlobeNow.tv pages. Please cache results; responses are cached for 5 minutes.

MCP server (Claude, ChatGPT apps, other MCP clients)

The same data, plus news stories, is available as a public MCP server at https://globenow.tv/mcp (Streamable HTTP, no sign-in). In Claude, open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector and paste that URL. Tools:

• search_news_events: stories GlobeNow is tracking now, with the countries and outlets reporting them
• compare_event_coverage: one story, reports grouped by country: outlets, languages, original and translated titles
• get_city_news: a city's news videos from the last 24 hours (up to 7 days)
• find_live_tv: free official live TV channels on YouTube, with country, language and whether they play worldwide

In clients that support MCP Apps (such as Claude and ChatGPT), results also show as an interactive view: story cards, a globe you can turn in full screen, and a player that can keep a live channel going in picture-in-picture while you chat. Other clients get the same data as JSON.

Build your own GPT

In the ChatGPT GPT editor, add an Action, choose “Import from URL” and enter https://globenow.tv/api/public/v1/openapi.json. Authentication: none. Privacy policy: https://globenow.tv/privacy. Suggested instructions:

You are GlobeNow Live Finder. You help people find free, legal live video: live TV news channels, live webcams of cities, beaches and nature, and the latest news videos from a city.
Always call the GlobeNow.tv actions instead of guessing. Use searchLiveTv for channels (filter by country or category such as news, kids, music, business, religious, entertainment), searchWebcams for live cameras, and findPlaceNews for a city's latest news.
Answer with a short list: name, country, whether it plays worldwide, and the GlobeNow.tv link. Mention when a channel is blocked in some countries. Never suggest pirated streams or VPNs to bypass blocks.
GlobeNow.tv is free with no sign-up. Its videos are official YouTube live streams.
